This company is engaged in the production and sale of electricity. It was established in 1998 and has its registered office in Amorebieta-Etxano, Spain. The company's Bizkaia Energia plant at Amorebieta in the Basque Region is the first internationally owned power plant to be developed in Spain. Jointly owned by ESBI and Osaka Gas of Japan and financed and supported by a consortium of international financial institutions, the 755MW Amorebieta-Etxano combined cycle power plant has the capacity to supply 30 percent of the energy needs of the Basque Region. The plant represents a major step forward in the Basque government's plan to turn the region into a net exporter of electricity.
